KAPPA ALPHA IS THE
LARGEST, STRONGEST AND
MOST POPULAR FRATERNITY
LARGEST
FRATERNITY
Traditionally
at Florida State, and today, Pi Kappa Alpha has the most
success in rush and is always the largest fraternity on
campus.
STRONGEST
FRATERNITY
"2003-04 Fraternity of the Year"
"2002-03 Fraternity of the Year"
"2001-02 Fraternity of the Year"
For the third year in a row,
the University Administration chose Pi Kappa Alpha as the
ideal FSU fraternity, based on leadership, scholarship,
recruiting, financial strength and alumni support.
"Robert
Adger Smythe Award"
The Robert Adger Smythe Trophy
is awarded each year to the top twelve
Pi Kappa Alpha chapters nationally. The Florida State Pikes
have received this award many times, including the last
three years in a row. We have also won the national Fraternity's
Rush Award for the last three years.
MOST
POPULAR FRATERNITY
The
remarkable personal achievements of individual Pike Brothers
ensure Pi Kappa Alpha's standing as the most popular fraternity
at FSU.
Pi Kappa Alpha has more members than any other Fraternity,
more varsity athletes than any other Fraternity,
more student government leaders than any other fraternity.

PIKES
ARE GOOD CITIZENS
Pi Kappa Alpha Brothers have contributed
20,000 hours of service to the community over the last four
years. The campus' largest annual philanthropy DANCE
MARATHON is a huge charity
competition based on fundraising and participation. Pi Kappa
Alpha has won the Overall Dance Marathon trophy two years
in a row, and won the Dance Marathon Fundraising trophy
in 2004!
In 2004, Pi Kappa Alpha was recognized
by FSU as the school's Philanthropic and Community Service
leader among fraternities. Pikes won these FSU sorority
charity competitions in 2003-04:
2004 Phi Mu Grand Slam Champions
2004 Alpha Delta Pi-athon Champions
2004 Delta Zeta Soccer Tournament Champions
PIKE
IS THE FRATERNITY OF ATHLETES
OVERALL INTRAMURAL ATHLETIC CHAMPIONS
Pike is a fraternity of athletes, and of winning. Twenty-three
fraternities compete in the Greek divisions at FSU.
For the second year in a row, and for the third time in
four years, the Pikes won Florida State's overall Intramural
Athletic Championship.
In 2004, the Pikes won by more then 200 points, the largest
point margin ever recorded in FSU fraternity history!
Jay McVan, Director of Athletics for the chapter
this year, is also a competitive tri-athlete, and finished
eighth in his age group at the 2002 Great Floridian Ironman
Triathalon.
Jon Graber was voted Athlete of the Year by the Brothers
of Pi Kappa Alpha.
In 2003-04, Pi Kappa Alpha was:
All-Campus Track Champions

MOST VARSITY ATHLETES
Ever since the crisp October night in 1947 when our Chapter
Founder, Ken MacLean '44, caught the first completed
pass in Seminole football history, Pi Kappa Alpha has been
the name most closely associated with FSU Varsity Athletics.
Traditionally, and today, more varsity athletes choose to
join Pi Kappa Alpha than any other fraternity!
This year, a dozen Pike Brothers competed
for FSU on Varsity teams or as members of Club Sports teams.
We are proud of the fact that so many of our Chapter officers
and leaders have traditionally come from the ranks of our
Varsity and Club athletes.

Pike
Brother and FSU Student Body President Patrick Sullivan
(center) led the
38,000-student campus in 2003-04. Sullivan was elected
with 80% of the votes,
the largest landslide margin in Florida State history!
Two more Pike Brothers who also contribute much to Pi
Kappa Alpha's prominance in Student Government are Treasurer
of the Student Body for 2004-05, Ozzy Cuan
(left), and Student Senate President Pro-Tem Sean Drake
on the right. Drake was a member of the FSU Track team,
and is Chairman of the Insight Political Party.
Cuan serves his Fraternity as fall, 2004 Pledgemaster.
All three men proudly display their Pi Kappa Alpha badges
on their coat lapels.

Pike
Brother and Seminole wide receiver Joey Kaleikini
leads the team
onto the field. Joey was a Physics & Biochemistry
major and active on the
Pike rush committee and intramural teams. He is a first
year Medical School student in fall, 2004.

Gary
Visser, President of the American Medical Students Association,
is one reason Pi Kappa Alpha is the most popular fraternity.
Visser won his
Varsity letters in the Decathelon, and was officially
designated the University's
Top Male Scholar-Athlete. He is now enrolled
in FSU's College of Medicine.

Pike
Brother and Seminole forward Adam Waleskowski made
the cover of Athlon's 2004-05 College Basketball Annual.
Adam is the team's top returning scorer and rebounder.

congratulates Chapter President Chris Koch after
Pike was named "FSU Fraternity of the Year"
for the third year in a row at the University's annual
Greek Awards Night.

FSU's
heroic symbol, Chief Osceola made his first appearance
in the 1978
season when he was portrayed by Pike alumnus James
Kidder '78. Kidder
(above, left, and in black & white photo) congratulates
fellow Pike Brother,
Josh Halley (above, right) who portrays Osceola
in the 2004 football season.
Josh is the son of another FSU Pike alumnus, Gene Halley
'67.

Pikes
enjoy a full and fun social calendar. Here, Brothers and
their dates enjoy the annual Pike Hawaiian.

Pike President Eric Carr entertains one of the

Pike Brother Pat Gerberich was the
2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Pole Vault Champion. He
follows Brother Jeff Atkinson who was the ACC Champion
in 2003.

Florida State University has recognized Pi Kappa Alpha
as the leading fraternity in philanthropy and community
service. In 2003-04, Pike won more sorority philanthropies
than all the other fraternities combined. Our own philanthropies
include "Christmas for the Kids" (above). the
"Pike Pledge Bowl" and a male auction.

Florida's
popular Attorney General, Charlie Crist '76
is one of many loyal FSU Pike alumni who support our chapter.
At a meeting of Tampa Bay area Pike alumni last year,
Brother Crist (above) spoke of his love for the Fraternity,
and addressed the importance of raising enough money to
ensure the Pikes build the best new house on fraternity
row.

"Once
A Pike, Always A Pike" is the bond that encourages
lifelong friendships among our alumni. The support of
loyal and generous alumni is vital to any successful fraternity,
and there is no question that the Pikes at Florida State
enjoy the most passionate alumni support of all. Here,
Pike alumni who were at FSU together more than twenty
years ago gather to raise money for the new house and
to enjoy fellowship. Left to right, they are David
Henry '81, Anthony Scarpo '80, Douglas Russell '79, Scot
Struebing '81, Bill Waters '81 and Ken Marks, Jr
'80.

Brothers
and dates enjoy a formal evening.
